Midwest Council on Agriculture praises House farm bill markup

For Immediate Release—May 23, 2024

The Midwest Council on Agriculture commends House Agriculture Committee Chairman GT Thompson for his work to release farm bill language and hold a markup in committee this week. We strongly support the meaningful improvements in the bill that align with our council’s priorities, namely, to protect financial and risk management programs and maintain a strong Title I.

“Members of the Midwest Council stand ready to help find a pathway forward to a bipartisan bill that will be successfully conferenced with the Senate and signed into law as quickly as possible,” said MWCA President Nathan Berseth. “We are pleased that the process is moving forward and are grateful for the leadership of the committee and all the members who are at the table and continuing the conversations.”
