MWCA supports release of “Farm, Food and National Security Act of 2026”

February 17, 2026

The Honorable House Agriculture Committee Chairman GT Thompson:

The Midwest Council on Agriculture is grateful to you for your continued work to enact a comprehensive farm bill. We appreciate the release of the “Farm, Food, and National Security Bill of 2026” and it being scheduled for markup in committee.

We strongly support the provisions in the bill that align with our council’s priorities, namely, modernizing USDA Farm Service Agency loan program limits, modifications to conservation programs that allow for greater utilization of precision ag technologies, enhancements to policies and programs that help support rural communities, and ensuring a strong crop insurance program.

“Members of the Midwest Council stand ready to help find a pathway forward to a bipartisan bill that can be passed through the House and Senate and enacted into law,” said MWCA President Perry Aasness. “We are pleased that the process is moving forward and are grateful for leadership and all the members who have expressed a willingness to getting this across the finish line.”
